Yes it is true……I am no longer working for Heep
I am very upset about it and my "step down" is with immediate effect.
Mick is very upset too but the general consensus in the Heep camp is that my mixing style is not what the band want. I have tried to adapt but it just didn't seem to work…..
I will still be in contact with them and am welcome if I want to go and see them though I will find this very hard but Mick is a mate and he doesn't want us to sever ties completely.
So I guess if anyone wants a sound engineer or knows a band that does, I'm open to offers! Shameless bit of advertising there
To answer The Magicians question;
1st gig: Hammersmith Odeon 16th April 1992. Heep supporting Yngwie Malmsteen……no soundcheck or rehearsal, just thrown straight in!
So my tenement with Heep is just short of 20 years !
Best show? I loved all of them (generally speaking apart from some right shit holes!) and still got butterflies of excitement before every show but the gig in the salt mine in Merkers and a real stonker that was the Grand Arena in Cape Town last year was a favourite, I'm sure there are loads of others but my head is still spinning.
So many places, something like 52 countries for me….hard to pick a favourite really.
Just like to thank all you lovely people who have come up and said hello over the years. You have all been magic!
